The Sutter County Resource Conservation District, in partnership with Yuba and Butte County RCDs, recently completed a four-year collaborative research project titled the "Lower Feather River/Honcut Creek Watershed Existing Conditions Assessment."
The Lower Feather River transects portions of Butte, Yuba, and Sutter Counties and stretches from the Oroville Dam to its confluence with the Sacramento River at Verona. The Watershed that drains to the Lower Feather River is approximately 60 miles in length and 32 miles at its widest point and comprises approximately 803 square miles (514,000 acres).
The Assessment was intended to help a broad spectrum of planners and stakeholders address critical resource challenges that cross jurisdictional boundaries and develop strategic plans designed to maintain a vibrant economy in balance with a sustainable ecological landscape throughout the Watershed and beyond.
The Lower Feather River/Honcut Creek Watershed Existing Conditions Assessment was funded with a grant from the California Department of Water Resources, California Bay-Delta Program.
